Caribbean Concussion Awareness Program aims to educate youth, parents, and coaches about sports-related concussions.
We recently published concussion articles in GrenadaNOW https://www.nowgrenada.com/tag/grant-lumkong/ and SaintLuciaNewsOnline https://www.stlucianewsonline.com/sports-related-concussions-in-young-st-lucian-athletes-commentary/
We are actively distributing educational materials to youth coaches throughout the Caribbean
We are trying to reach out to as many young athletes as possible in the Caribbean Region. Due to Covid-19, we are unable to give in-person talks, but we offer a virtual presentation as well as educational videos (via Educational Materials tab).
"I love all sports, but after sustaining sports-related concussions, I began researching and learning about the effect of concussions on the human brain. It is now my passion to spread this knowledge to teens, parents, and coaches throughout the Caribbean. Let's work together to prevent brain injury and make sure that concussions don't go unnoticed."
We offer a fun, interactive program for kids and teens to learn about the signs, symptoms, treatments, and dangers of concussion. Due to COVID-19, we are currently unable to visit schools and sports teams; however, we are offering video presentations of our program. We also provide educational pamphlets which include additional information for parents. All services are provided free of charge.
